ArtCircleResidence-Europe Connect is offering 2 scholarships for outstanding musicians to create new music, exercise and enjoy Istria with its wineries, truffels and the picturesque ocean side location!

Who is Sponsoring?
Initial Art Angel and Sponsor for these two scholarships is Dr. Anna Elisabeth Prinz, former German Ambassador and owner of the residency house in Istria. Dr Prinz is the founder of ArtCircleResidence in Australia and later extended its reach into Germany.

Scholarship Objective and Mission:
Our mission is to encourage sponsors join the Scholarship initiative along with new art angels to open their beautiful houses for scholarships, outside the main travel seasons, to help artists to combine music practice and vacation in a cultural and relaxed environment, to connect musicians in Europe and to contribute to cultural exchange.
Where do the residences take place?
Istria, northern part of Croatia at the border to Slovenia and Italy is a melting pot of cultures with a mulitlingual cultural population mix speaking Croatian, Italian, English and German. Many cultural events are on offer (www.visit-istria.net and www.istra.hr or www.tz-vizinada.hr. Istria is developing fast into a music and art hub with great restaurants close to the seaside.
The village is called Vizinada (translated: „You see hope“) In Vizinada musicians are traditonally trained in various bands and the famous ballet dancer Carlotta Grisi was born. Located on top of a hill 20 minutes from the coast you can see the castle of Motovun and the artist village Groznjan close by from two large terraces. The village is surrounded by 11 wineries and biking and walking trails with beautiful views above Istrian hills, 20 minutes from the seaside.

The Scholarships Offers
I. Autumn Scholarship October 2024: Music, Truffels and Walks through the Vinyards
One week free accomodation is provided in a big beautiful Istrian Stone House in Vizinada 28 a in Istria. The location includes a separate music studio for practice (piano, guitar, drums).
II. Spring Scholarship in May 2025: Music and Walks through the Vinyards
One week free accomodation in a big beautiful Istrian Stone House in Vizinada 28 a, Istria with seperate music studio for practice (piano, guitars, drums) is offered to outstanding musicians who want to practice individually undisturbed with an option to take their family or friends along in the stone house next door.

How to apply?
Musicians please send a short recording of their music (via „we transfer“) or a link to social media publications and a Curriculum Vitae with contact details to:
The CV should be short and comparable to other artists who participated earlier (Please refer to our artists bio page to view previous residency recipients: here)
Selection is done through the appointed group of „Friends or Art Circle“ and musicians from previous Art Circle events as soon as possible. An invitation to a short zoom or whatsApp video call with Dr. Anna Prinz will follow.
Deadline for applications is June 1st, 2024 for the autum scholarship 2024 and October 1st, 2024 for the spring scholarship 2025.
